An Ocean of Noise 2.0

When this blog was originally started all those years ago I had such big plans for it, I loved writing about music and wanted to be able to project my highly questionable opinions onto the rest of the world. Unfortunately real life got in the way, with a super stressful Masters and a year of being completely lost in life I kind of lost my enthusiasm for a lot of things, being broke certainly didn’t help either. However after a couple of years of working and having money to actually buy music (vinyl is my new addition) and go to concerts, I feel like I’m ready to again start making sense of the noise that is music.

Oh and Ashley is going to be posting too and we’re going to try our best to deliver regular quality content, so please join us on our journey and enjoy the relaunch of An Ocean of Noise, almost like a phoenix rising from the ashes you could say…that gives me an idea for our first new review!

Ashley’s Top 50 Albums of the 2000s: 30-21

Ok, week of school hell is over, time to get back to blogging.  This section is…I’m a little not as content with the placement of these albums, as, I’m pretty sure I actually don’t like some of them as much as 40-31.  Oh well, the numbering of the albums doesn’t matter as much as just letting y’all know what I think is great stuff.  I’m not going to have things to say about all of these albums, so if I don’t write anything, that’s why.  So, let’s get on with it.

Thoughts on the Grammys – Because doing this is a given.

Well, I had to work most of the night, so any updates  I was getting were from a one-sided mobile MSN conversation between my boyfriend and myself. Regardless, I do have a few thoughts I’ll give now in a bulleted list!

15. Woods – Songs of Shame

I just can’t get enough of Jeremy Earl’s voice, which keeps me coming back to listen to Songs of Shame over and over. But, just as important are the melodies that anchor the songs, which, when combined with the tape-effects and the lo-fi sound, makes for a heavenly listen to my ears.

So, company has arrived (eeeeeee), and I had to skip one more day on this.  That’s ok, as Cassie seems to have taken up the mantle of lizstofyin’.  Today, I will continue to attempt to NOT mention some of my favorite tracks of the year, but, I obviously enjoy many songs on these albums, or they wouldn’t be in my top ten, so I can assure these will still be justly done reviews.  WDANORS!
