The 10 Worst Albums of 2012

15 Dec

Yeah, I know, I was supposed to do 5 favorite new artists today.  Have to put a hold on that.  I still haven’t heard Metz’s album, and after today, I just wasn’t in the mood.

This is not the time or place really to acknowledge what happened in Connecticut today in any way, save to say that I’m so very deeply troubled by it all.  My heart is broken in two over this and now I’m just turning to the blog to try and cheer myself up a bit.  I will also share, as I am with everyone, these two organizations that, should you wish to help, are on hand attempting to counsel students, parents and faculty at Sandy Hook Elementary after the tragedy that occurred today:

Newtown Youth and Family Services – nonprofit mental health clinic, that will be open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for emergency counseling for families, community members or staff involved in the Sandy Hook

Newtown Parent Connection – substance abuse, also offers bereavement group counseling for parents

Ok, now let’s get on with ragging on bad albums and all try to smile just a little. Continue reading

Ashley’s Top 50 Albums of the 2000s: 50-41

20 Mar

A day late and a dollar short, but let’s do this thing shall we?  A word of warning, I don’t feel like I was none to aware of the events transpiring musing-wise this past decade, and as a result, I know this is not the greatest list of its kind that you will read.  I don’t have a lot to say about all the entries, and I will not always try, but let’s enjoy this little countdown anyways.  Along the way I’ll try to share with you a bit about my various mishaps with music this decade, this is the time when I first really began to acknowledge the music world outside of what my parent’s listened to, and it was a very special time for me.  Hopefully I can share some of that with you.
Also, once upon a time this article was all nights with album covers, but until I can figure out how to make WordPress not a stupid piece of shit, you’ll have to deal without them.

Best Albums of 2009: 20-11

27 Dec

Well way hey hey, here we are.  The top 20.  Hope you don’t mind that I nipped out for Christmas and Christmas Eve.  I’m sure you 5 readers can understand.

So, anyways.  This top 20.  Wow.  What a great bunch of albums, I mean, I realize I’ve only been listening to a lot of *new* music since the end of 2007, but, this is some seriously good stuff here.  I’ve worked hard all year to be sure that this top 20 is as strong, for me, as possible, and I’m pleased with the results.  On and Wards. Single Review: Muse – Undisclosed Desires

16 Nov

So we’ve got a song here with a very cryptic title and a bunch of lyrics I can’t make out, it must be the new Muse single!
Undisclosed Desires
Personally I’m a fan of Muse, not a huge fan seeing as their albums aren’t amazing (Absolution is pretty great though) but from what I’ve seen from their live performances they’re one of best bands going right now and they’re on my list of bands I must see live. So when The Resistance came out I was quite eager to hear it, however while good I found it sounded too much like…well Muse, it was Muse being Muse but that review’s for another day.
